The slow, gentle, guided movements of Tao Yin, performed while lying on the floor on a yoga mat, are a different way of doing Qigong. They are suitable for most anyone. When we do Tao Yin we focus inside. We connect our minds and bodies through intentional breath work, the energy of light, and the Chinese elements of fire, earth, metal, water and wood. This releases tightness, tension and stress from our organs and increases energy flow in the meridians. Next, we warm, soften and relax the Psoas muscles deep within our lower backs and hips, and all of the spinal muscles. From there we gently strengthen and flex the spine, bringing deep relaxation to the whole body. We end with a brief, guided meditation. Join us for this mind-clearing, stress-relieving, muscle-relaxing weekly class.

healing-sounds_energy-man-webClass Description:  Approximately 5,000 years ago, very observant Qigong masters discovered that a healthy organ vibrates at a particular frequency. They found six sounds with the correct frequencies to keep each organ in optimal condition. To support the sounds, they developed six body postures to activate the acupuncture meridians, or energy channels, of the corresponding organs.
The stresses of daily life can cause excess heat to build up and become trapped around our organs, causing energy blockages and illness. The vibrations of these sounds and the accompanying body postures redistribute this excess heat to the cooler parts of our bodies, stimulating and balancing our chi energy and restoring health to our organs. Regular practice of the Six Healing Sounds promotes optimal health for the organs, emotional balance, and the prevention of illness. This practice also minimizes the discomfort of hormonal hot flashes, and hot flushes caused by some medications.

microcosmic-orbit-1Class Description:  The Inner Smile Meditation is an ancient Chinese healthcare practice that focuses gratitude and joy on the internal organs to resolve the physical and mental tensions that can lead to illness. Negative emotions like anger, sadness, depression, fear, and worry, are seen as low-grade energy that causes chronic disease and steals our life force by creating energy blockages. The internal awareness caused by this practice flushes the organs of poisonous negative energy in order to nourish the entire body with positive life-force energy. Transform your stress into vitality and healing with this practice.

The Microcosmic Orbit practice circulates Chi, or life-force energy, in a loop through the body, to balance both Yin and Yang energies. The Orbit is like a large chi reservoir supplying nourishing chi to the whole body. Experience the flow of chi in your own internal orbit.

Elegant Caucasian woman doing face massage movements with hands touching. Facial massage for skin and underlying muscles. Natural rejuvenation techniques.

Class Description:  In the West, we think of massage primarily as manipulation of muscle and fascia. When we practice Chi Self-Massage, we manipulate our internal energy, or chi, to strengthen and rejuvenate our sense organs - our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin - as well as our teeth and our internal organs. The techniques of this practice are more than 5,000 years old. You will be given practices that will strengthen your senses, detoxify your internal organs and glands, help control negative emotions, relieve stress and digestive issues, and help bring an energetic balance to your body.

Description:  Before the modern technological advancements of today, ancient cultures discovered the energetic forces within that influenced our physical health and emotional well being. They called these energetic forces chakras, which in Sanskrit translates to "wheels", as in wheels of energy.

So what are the chakras?  How do you know when there is an imbalance or if you are "energetically ill"?  And if there is an imbalance, what can you do to begin to heal?

Together, we will explore this ancient ideology and how it relates to our emotional and physical health.

Description:  Yin and Yang are terms of relativity and only exist because of each other. Without fast, there would be no slow.  Without dark, there would be no light. At times in our lives, we may experience a deficiency or excess of Yin and Yang that requires some re-balancing on our part.  Please join us to review how to identify and correct these imbalances through yoga, mindfulness, and the principles of stillness.
